The inspiration behind Obsidian Law Offices came from one of our favorite films: The Shawshank Redemption. This movie centers around two themes seen often in our criminal legal system: one man, Andy (Tim Robbins), who was wrongly convicted of crimes he did not commit and another man, Red (Morgan Freeman), who was cruelly stuck in prison long after he had rehabilitated himself.

Andy is able to break free from prison but before he does he tells his friend Red where to find a special rock he describes as a piece of "black, volcanic glass" that had no business being there.

Red, after serving 40 years in prison and struggling to adapt to life outside, remembers his promise to Andy to find this special rock. Red finds the rock and his path to true freedom it protected underneath.

That "black, volcanic glass" was obsidian. Our advocacy for our clients is embodied by what that special rock represents.
